Life is Good!

Today is our ninth wedding anniversary and when life is just this good, you can't help but reflect on the wonderful blessings in your life. You always hear the cliches of "the first year is the hardest" or "the seven year itch". But for Scott and I, married life has ALWAYS been so great. We loved it the first day and it has been better every day after that. To quote one of our family's favorite missionaries, "Life is good."

For those of you who don't know "our story", allow me to share. I first met Scott when we were both attending BYU. Scott had just recently lost his best friend and roommate in a snowmobiling accident. His friend had just finished building these condos south of campus and Scott was living in them long enough to sell them for his friend's mom. I remember going with my roommates to look at the condos and first seeing Scott, he was talking on the phone to his mom (what a good boy). If you know Scott, his personality is easy going from the get go. We talked with him while sitting on his "bachelor pad green leather couches" watching his huge TV but noticing that his place was quite clean. After my roommates moved in, Scott became "one of the girls". He'd girl talk with us, eat brownies with forks out of the pan with us, and even fish Heather's nylons out of the washing machine when they got caught. Like all good single BYU coeds, I flirted with him when ever I got the chance, but he never asked me out. The closest I got was talking to him at church one Sunday and he said, "Hey I almost called you on Friday to go to a football game with me." That was it.

The condos sold and he moved. I didn't see him or talk to him for years. In fact I almost forgot about him. We both graduated and I had been teaching second grade for two years. I made some great friends that I taught with. One of my friends that taught next door to me started dating this guy she really liked. They kept talking about setting me up with his roommate "Scott". One night we all decided to go to a rodeo. "Scott" was supposed to come and meet us so I could meet him. As we were driving to Heber, James gave him a call and said, "Huber, you comin?". Mentally I started going "huber", "scott", "scott huber". I figured out it was the Scott Huber I knew from years back, however James forgot to make that connection with him. Scott was working late and couldn't make it to the rodeo. So they tried again with a BBQ at my friends house. When I walked in I immediately made the connection with him and we had a great time that night.

Scott and I have been together ever since that BBQ. He proposed to me on his 30th birthday (I wish I knew before hand that all he wanted for his b-day was a "yes" instead of agonizing over what to buy him :) ) And as my favorite cliche kinda goes, we are living happily ever after!

Happy Anniversary! I totally forgot. Those pictures are priceless. You guys look so young (well comparatively speaking Scott.) J/K. I can only say that since I'm old too and since I'm your favorite sister-in-law.
