My Star

Megan's teacher is a children's book author.  Megan loves that!  She wants to be an author too.   We just got news that Megan's about to be published...

Megan goes to Writing Camp every Tuesday during lunch.  Recently they had a writing contest.  Her school is the Home of the Rising Stars.  They were to write a story using a star.

We just found out that Megan won the writing contest and her story will be published in the yearbook - right next to the Principal's Page.  How exciting!

Megan's Story:

Roxey Makes a Wish

Roxey was in kindergarten.  It was the end of the year.  She was excited for first grade next year.  Her class went to visit a first grade class.  They went to Mrs. Rockstar’s classroom.

Roxey loved it the moment she walked through the door.  There were puppets that talked.  Art was all over the walls.  All her students had smiles on their faces.  There was even a writing center.  And Mrs. Rockstar showed them a dance.  Roxey knew she wanted to be in that class.

All summer Roxey waited to see the first star every night.  She wished to be in Mrs. Rockstar’s class.  Every day she wished harder.  And every night she would say, “Starlight, star bright.  First star I see tonight.  I wish I may.  I wish I might.  Mrs. Rockstar’s class would be just right.”

Then the day came to check the class list.  It felt like it took all day to wait.  Finally they hung the list up.  She held her mom’s hand tight and watched her mom read the names.  Then her mom said, “Mrs. Rockstar.”

“Yes!” said Roxey.  She knew that all her first grade dreams would come true.
