My room. 12:30 in the A.M. Brookie watching Little Bear.
She's got me!
Right around that chubby little finger of hers. There's no other way to explain why my baby is watching cartoons in the middle of the night (Bless the programmers at Noggin who decided cartoons 24 hours a day is a good thing).
Brookie didn't have a great day yesterday. She wasn't feeling well. On top of that, she's teething. That always results in a sore bum for her.
So when she woke up crying at midnight, I went into her room and rubbed her back. I got tired of standing, so I sat on the floor and forced my arm through the slats to rub her back.
We had staring contests. She didn't know we were, but I knew. She was good too! She didn't take her eyes off of me. We just sat there in the dark staring at each other. No talking.
It was about that point that I started thinking about how quickly my babies grow. And then I made an executive decision...She was coming to bed with me. I figured, she's only little for so long. Eventually she won't be able to sleep with us. So why not get my time in while she can.
I picked her up and walked down the hallway to my room. I plopped her into the middle of the bed. We laid there, very still. I was so proud of the moment. I enjoyed cuddling with my little girl.
And then she made her move.
First she got on her stomach and placed her head on my tummy. She would smile at me. She then made her way over the top of me and onto the floor. She very quietly took inventory of my nightstand. She handed me my bottle of water, my glasses, my magazine. She then opened the drawer and started handing me diapers one by one. Eventually she handed me the remote.
I couldn't resist. I turned it on.
And then I had to get a picture.

This post is all too familiar! David and I found ourselves watching Blues Clues with Mason from our bed at 2:00 AM on more than one occasion when he was going through the same thing. And if Blue didn't put him to sleep he moved to our nightstands and emptied them.
thats so funny! We are the same way. When they are sick, routine goes out the window! I love the picture. Her arms on the arm rest!
