Utah Snow at Grandma and Grandpa's, January 2009
Yesterday was cold! We were freezing! The rain was coming down. The wind was blowing. The thermostat in my car said it was 58 degrees when I picked Megan up from school. But truly, the wind made it feel like 20 degrees. (I know, I'm a wimp! I admit it.)
Megan and I were both complaining of the cold. Megan sighed and said "Why did the groundhog have to see its shadow." I agreed with her that I don't want six weeks of this weather. Then she said, "I wish today was Groundhog's Day. That would mean that Winter would be over soon."
I've got to admit, I was quite impressed with her reasoning. Just to make sure she was as brilliant as I was thinking, I asked her why would today be a better day. And she said because there's no way it would see its shadow today. There's no sun.
Unfortunately, here's to six (almost five) more weeks of Winter. Excuse me while I go dream about Spring.

I have never thought of it that way! Megan, you are a lot smarter than I am!
58! Are you even kidding me?! Did you get the memo from Al Roker that Erie has had the 2nd most snow in the country this year (and we've almost set a record for Erie weather). We are actually hitting the 40's today and I am screaming up and down and unpacking my shorts and bathing suit. 40 is a sauna compared to the teen temperatures we've been seeing for weeks (with below zero windchills)58 is only in my dreams.
Hey Deanne, I told you our big dream of everyone moving to California. You can too. Until then, we can dream about Spring together.
