Scott and I had the opportunity to Get Away for a quick break. Thanks to his parents for coming and using every ounce of their energy to keep my babies happy, including Brooklyn (not an easy task to keep that little one away from her mom).
Friday morning, we flew down to Orange County. Scott had a dinner to attend in Long Beach that night. We spent most of the day in Long Beach. We stayed in The Westin overlooking the ocean. Dinner happened to be right across the street. It was perfect. And nothing beats breakfast in bed. That's high up on my list of guilty pleasures.
Saturday was busy but so relaxing at the same time. After breakfast and checking out, we headed into LA to this store to do a little shopping for my Meg. Let's just say I can check her off the Christmas list. After the small fortune that was spent, she is complete. But I love the atmosphere of The Grove shopping mall. Only wish I had more money to spend there.
We then decided to head to Malibu. Neither one of us has ever been there. We decided we'd go see what all the buzz is about. We did a little window shopping because that was about all I could afford. Honestly, walking through a children's boutique I picked up a darling sweater that would fit Brooklyn. The price tag, $295 (that's two hundred and ninety-five dollars). I don't think I even did a good job pretending like it was cute and I was still thinking about it while I b-lined my way out of the store. We found a great deli there and enjoyed some lunch outside.
After lunch, we drove back down the coast and decided to stop at the beach. We hung out there for a while. I love just listening to the sound of the ocean. It is awesome. There's something so forgiving about the waves coming in and washing the sand. It's always so peaceful and relaxing. We tried our best to just breathe it all in.
We headed back to Orange County a little early. We wanted to make sure we didn't get stuck in the unforgiving LA traffic. We had the last flight out of the day and we needed to make it. We got back to Orange County with an extra hour and a half to spare. So we decided to go to Downtown Disney for some dinner and a little disney shopping for the kids prizes. I love Disneyland. It was a perfect way to end our time together. Honestly, for all we did on Saturday, it felt like we had been away for several days. I loved it!

That sounds like a great getaway. Every couple needs to do that once in a while. Of course, they don't all have Joan and Ron tohelp with the kids. You're lucky and blessed to have them both stay. How did Brooklyn do without her mom?
Brooklyn actually did pretty well. She would pick and choose who she would warm up to. They joked that she avoided eye contact with everyone. She's a true Peterson - avoidance will get you through.
Good for you guys!! You deserve a good break!!
