Megan's library book this week is The Princess and the Pea. We've been reading it all week. She's loved the story and has talked about it every day.
We were reading her book tonight in bed. As I was reading it, she was complaining about her back hurting (she had started talking about her back after soccer practice today). I then decided to tell her why I thought her back was hurting...
Of course, it was because I slipped a pea under her mattress. Her eyes got big. I thought she was thrilled at the idea. And then...
She burst into tears.
Me: What's wrong?
Meg: Did you really put a pea under my bed?
Me: What do you think?
Meg: Sobbing even harder and now she has turned her back to me.
Me: Why are you crying?
Meg: Because I don't want to be a real princess, I only want to be called a princess.
After settling down, we finished our story. I kissed my little princess good-night.

I remember this kid..who was actually my best friend in 2nd grade..Brandon Hundley..put a pea in his nose at lunch and we were no longer best friends..or friends at all for that matter because it disgusted me so badly!! So tell Megs that atleast you didnt' put it up your nose!!
I love that she doesn't really want to be a princess. The truth is that she is a Peterson and probably OCD and probably couldn't stand that fact that there was food in her room!!
My poor children are third generation OCD from both sides (self-diagnosed for some of us and pointed out for the other)
Great blog updates! I need to do that more! =) I love your babysitter song! Sooo cute! And I remember Becky sleeping over at my house and couldn't go home because we live 20 miles away... so true! She never could make it through a night! I love the sleepover idea! We'll do that next time Alyssa asks for one.
That is soo cute!! There's too much responsibility being a real princess anyway.
