This morning I was packing lunches for Megan and Josh to take to their schools. I made them both a sandwich. I got a drink for both of them. They each got a few pretzels. I then gave them each a rice krispie treat. Josh quickly said, you didn't give me a "fried rispie" treat. I assured him I did and even showed him. Megan has a mid-morning snack at first recess. I packed a granola bar in her lunchbox. Josh was once again quick to notice and said, you didn't give me a "vanilla bar". I told him he didn't need it because it was for Meg's snack, but decided to pack one anyway. Worst case, he can bring it home and eat it here. I put Megan's lunch in her backpack and Josh's lunch in his big blue bucket that was sitting on the counter. Josh then asked me for another waffle. I watched him put the waffle in his lunchbox. I let it go. But I couldn't help to wonder what his teachers would think of a mom who crams so much food in a lunch box of a three year old and expect her son to eat it.
So I went and picked Josh up after preschool. As we were driving home he said, "Mom, they said I had to wait to eat my food." I asked him if he tried to eat before it was lunch time and he told me he did. Once again, it's those darn rules. He seemed so frustrated. It's my fault. He's a true boy. Not only does he eat meals, but he grazes all day too. He told me he ate all of his lunch except his "fried rispies". I thought there's no way he ate a sandwich, waffle, pretzels, granola bar, and drink in the 15 minutes they give him to eat. I got home and opened up his lunch box and sure enough, the only thing in his lunch box was not just one rice krispie treat, but two were there. Somehow he managed to not only add a granola bar and a waffle, but also a second treat.
Is there a manual out there for raising boys!

BOYS - can't live with them, can't live without them! Mine surprise me regularly with the things they do and say. (Ben is included in this).
Maybe a few weeks of preschool and he'll become the perfect sunbeam! :)
Okay, i just read your last two posts and the best part is I can actually hear exactly how Joshie is saying all of that. It made me want to pee my pants. Everytime I pick Alex up he says, "Mom, I didn't miss you!" Not like he is proud of himself but like,..."why the heck did you show up?" Boys...have two more and I will start to feel bad for you!!
The manual says: "If you feed them they will stay."
Great story--your kids are so cute!
