Vote For Scott

Election season is fast approaching and we are gearing up for a new election.

Four years ago, I came home from the hospital just after having Josh.  That first week home with him, our dining room table became election headquarters piled with flyers and yard signs.  Scott had decided to run for the elementary school district.  He was able to take out an incumbent and was elected to the school board.  I wasn't sure how I felt about it when he first expressed interest.  I had just quit teaching from a district that had a school board that was not well liked by the teachers.  However, Scott's district was in great shape and also had the highest paid teachers in the area.  I thought, my only sure benefit would be teachers my children would be placed with.  Every teacher knows that each school has that one or two teachers you wouldn't want your own child in that class.  Tenure isn't always a good thing.

And then I was eight months pregnant with Brooklyn when Scott approached me with a big decision.  A board member on the high school district had passed away and the district needed to fill her spot.  He had several people contact him about applying for the position.  Scott felt like high school had more issues that he would want to be involved in for our own children.  After a round of interviews in front of a board meeting, Scott was selected to be on the high school board.  With the election coming up, he now has to run for the remainder two years on the term.  So here we are again running our election campaign.

So we are once again swinging into election mode.  I may have lost my teacher placement favor I was hoping for with elementary and middle school, but he really enjoys working with the high schools.  We should be getting our signs soon and we'll begin placing those all over the city.  Just last night, we got his website up and running.  You'll have to check it out.  I'm quite proud of our efforts.  I think he should put me on the payroll.

I must give credit where credit is due...Debbie created the whole website. I provided the text and she did all of the rest. I "recruited" her to be my web page designer knowing that she would put together a fabulous product. She didn't just hit the ball, she knocked it out of the park! I also must admit that the School Board takes me out of the home quite a bit and she is more of a single mom than she ever bargained for. To top it all off, she never complains about it either. She is truly dazzling! She is my hero!

Scott - I'm just wondering what you're paying her to be your web designer - a day at the spa? a shopping spree? j/k It does look really good. Good luck with the campaign. Oh, and can I expect that sign soon?
