It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We'll it's time to deal with it.  I'm really struggling with the thought of school starting.  Usually I love the beginning of the school year.  I loved going to school.  I loved starting a new year as a teacher.  It's a fresh start.  But for some reason, I'm dreading getting back on a routine.  And by getting back on a routine, I really mean getting up and going early.  The Olympics have thrown my body clock off way too far.  I too often have found myself up way to late, like looking at the clock at 1:30 in the morning after watching the gymnastics all-around.  I then have to force myself to go to sleep.

But we got a bit of fun news last night.  We anxiously waited until class lists were posted and went to the school to see who Meg's first grade teacher will be.  We are excited for a new school year.  Her teacher is a children's book author.  I'm so excited for Megan to be in her class.  I hear that she is wonderful at getting the kids imaginations flowing.  I couldn't be more thrilled.  Now if we can just get ourselves up and out of bed on Tuesday morning.  And by ourselves I mean me.

Megan couldn't be happier.  During the last week of kindergarten, the teachers took their classes to visit a first grade classroom.  Megan went to Ms. O'Hair's class.  She came home talking all about their visit and how she hopes she will be her first grade teacher.  I tried to explain to her that I'm sure all the teachers are nice and she'll love her teacher no matter who it is.  She gave me this look and then said, "Not Mrs. _______ .  She always has a frown on her face."  I kinda laughed surprised that she even knew the world outside of kindergarten.  I asked her how she even knew Mrs. ______.  She said, "She always come into the computer room after us and she says (Megan says in a grumpy monotone voice) Find your seat."  So I'm especially relieved that I won't have to coax her into Mrs. _____  classroom on the first day of school.

Oh...I am so with you. Back to a routine dose not sound good to me either. I am sure once it's going, it will all be good. Just think, we have a holiday after the 1st week.
Does that make you feel any better? Mmmmmm me either. But $$ sounds good.

I always loved the begining of the new school year, except for spending so much money on school clothes and supplies. However, I'm thrilled for Megan to get such an outstanding teacher. Have a great year, Megs.

What a fun teacher! It is the worst getting the poopy teacher...lucky for me, I always had the best ones in elementary!! I can't believe a new year has started..but I have to admit, I was ready for the routine. Now maybe I can drop the other person that has seemed to take up residency on my belly and butt!!

I am so happy for Megan! 1st grade will be awesome for her. As for getting back on schedule - it stinks. Gone are the days of being in our PJ's 'til 3pm. :)
School here starts at 8:15 and Ethan's preschool at 8:30. Our mornings are crazy.
Happy First Day of School!

I think that's the real problem for me Leslie. With afternoon kindergarten and no preschool last year, I'm realizing that the lazy mornings we had are officially coming to an end...for about 18 years at least. How many more days until Summer!
