The Birthday Bash

I cannot believe that my little baby Megan is turning 6.  We had a big Flower party to help celebrate.  Megan loves to do arts and crafts so we set up lots of craft stations for 20 girls (yep that's right, 20 five and six year olds) to come and craft with her.  Despite it being record temps (I should have prayed to the rain gods for no rain instead of the sun gods for sun), we had a great time.
The cupcakes had flower rings on top of them.  Of course most of the girls chose to lick the ring off and skip eating the cupcakes.  Next time I'll do my best to just stick the candles in the top of the toy and not bother to buy cupcakes.

The girls are decorating their own flower pots.  They then got to pick a flower to plant in it.  This happened to be the favorite station.

This next station was painting wooden doorhangers.  After they dried, we wrote their name on it and glued a cute flower at the bottom.  (Scott gave me a hard time when he realized their painting shirts came from his closet - thanks honey!).

Making flower bead necklaces and bracelets.  I thought this would be the hot ticket item.  I was surprised that some of the girls didn't want to make them.  Who would have guessed.

They also made flower crowns.  Instead of a princess crown, this crown was grass.  They then stuck flower, butterfly and ladybug stickers to them.  Very cute.

I didn't even have to use my back up items of blowing bubbles and sidewalk chalk.  The girls were well entertained the whole time.

I owe a huge thank you to my sweet babysitters Michelle and Abby for coming and helping me run stations.  You guys are the best!  I also have to thank Scott's parents.  They came and entertained both small girls and big girls (the mommies).  Thanks for helping with the clean up too!  (I have the best in-laws!).  And of course I have to thank my sweet Scottie.  Megan has a great daddy!

We had a great time, but I think I jinxed myself.  Remember how I mentioned it was record temps (who would have thought the weather would be 102 in the middle of May), well I joked with one of the moms that all I knew was that I was spending the rest of the day inside.  Well guess what happened to break last night...the A/C.  Ahh, life is never boring.
