BE Thankful!

I am sad for our loss of our great prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley, but am so thankful to have this time on earth under his leadership. He has been such a staple in my life. We just had a sweet FHE about prophets. I read to my children an entry from my journal as a little girl. It was written on the day President Kimball passed away when I was in sixth grade. The following entry was about the new prophet Ezra Taft Benson and President Hinckley being the first counselor and how I knew the church was "still" true.

He truly was a great leader and great example of how to enjoy the good of life. He showed us how much we have to be thankful for. He was such a sweet personality. My dad has had many opportunities to be with President Hinckley and has never wasted an opportunity to bear testimony to us that he was a man of God. As my dad introduced many foreign leaders and dignitaries to him, my dad was always impressed with how he would talk to each of them about the current events in their country. Often, he would greet them in their language. He truly was an impressive man. He even took the opportunity to send a letter of encouragment to my brother while serving his mission in Norway and told Andrew that he would pray for their success. That same week, they went from no investigators to five commitments for baptism (and they did get baptized). Most missionaries in Norway are lucky to have one baptism the whole two years. How do you argue the power of prayer from a prophet.

I am so thankful for the gospel and to have prophets that lead us. He will be missed!
