This is truly one of my most favorite holidays. It goes all the way back to my childhood. Every 4th of July was a Peterson reunion at my grandma's house. Nobody celebrates the 4th like they do in Provo. I love it here! When Scott and I talked about moving out of state, one of my requests was that we would always come home for the 4th. Except for the one year I was due with Brookie, he has made it happen. This is why I love the 4th:
The Parade:
Thanks to my sweet aunts and uncles, we always have a spot to watch the parade.
Spending time with the Peterson family:
After the parade, we used to head up to my grandma's house. My sweet Aunt Colleen and Uncle Craig now host lunch for too many Peterson's to keep count (I'm sure she knows how many made themselves at home, though).
Brooklyn couldn't get enough of their sweet dog.
Stadium of Fire:
Gotta love it! It's become a family tradition. We head to the Cougar Stadium for a night of entertainment. This year included She-Daisy, Glenn Beck, the Jonas Brothers, and the most amazing firework show set to music. Plus, I got to spend time with my cousin Collette, who's always been like a sister to me. We were even college roomies our freshman year.
Brookie had a hard start to the evening. She went into this with a five minute nap in the car.
Dallin - I love that look!
Sweet little Alex
My cousin Collette and me.
Alex wasn't sure which hand to cross so he got himself covered.
It was a little too loud for Boston.
Scott worked his magic and got a second nap in.
Result: Happy Dancing Girl
The fly over - one of my favorite parts
My mountains!
Oh, I miss them!
The military choppers flew over
You can see the pilot talking to us on the big screen
She-Daisy
My mom and dad
Collette and her sweet family.
They just found out they're adopting in a few weeks!
The fire dancers
The Jo Bros
More of the Bros
Happy Michelle and Megan
They pulled out the iPhone lighters
My little angel
They retired the Stadium of Fire flag. For the last 10 years, the Stadium of Fire dancers walked this flag across the whole field for the National Anthem.
The military marched the flag in.
We found out later it was for show. The fire marshal wouldn't allow the flag to be burned in the stadium because of toxic fumes.
And the real show begins:
And we'll do it all over again next year!

Happy 4th! It was good to see you!
I can't believe I missed it again! Nick is really slacking. It looks like it was a blast. I can't remember the last time I hiked the Y - let alone at 6 am!
