The last two weeks, we have been going to swimming lessons each night. Each child was in a class. A parent had to be with Brooklyn, and Scott volunteered. It was a perfect way to start off our summers. Our class has been from 6:45-7:15 each night. We'd eat dinner. Head to swimming. Home for bubble baths. Bedtime. Perfect!
At first, Brooklyn did not enjoy lessons. She loved playing in the shallow end, but hated the beginning of each class in the deep end. Her little independent spirit was shining through. She likes to be in control. Once we got her use to a "tubie", she didn't mind that part of the class either.
Notice Josh in the background making a turn. He had a fantastic instructor. After two weeks of lessons, he can now swim without floaties. He talked all week about "Aaron" his teacher. Josh thought he was the greatest. He called him Aaron for the full two weeks. And if you know Joshie, he talks a lot during lessons. I must have heard him say Aaron at least 50 times. When we got his report card tonight, we found out his teacher's name is Eric. Poor guy. He was so sweet to Josh.
Megan was a big swimmer this year. They actually swam the full laps during her half hour. She wasn't as thrilled because they would make her do the correct strokes for front crawl with side breathing. She would rather swim her made up breast stroke with her head above the water. I was so proud of her. However she has stated that she would not want to do swim team.
Can you see how exhausted she is after that lap.
And the last day of lessons:
They were having a cannonball contest
(Meg and the 3 boys in her class).
