Josh is entering the Napping Crossroads of Life. He's still tired and has a hard time making it throught he day without a nap. However, when he takes a nap during the day, he has a hard time falling asleep at night. I'll put him in bed at 7:45 and he'll lay in bed until 9:30 or 10:00 (bless his sweet heart, he doesn't get out of bed at all) before he falls asleep. My problem is that Brooklyn is now taking regular naps. I've been looking forward to this moment for many months. Megan is in afternoon kindergarten. Then Josh and Brooke were sleeping at the same time. I was actually getting some time for myself during the afternoon to clean a room and have the other rooms magically stay clean at the say time. It's nice and quiet and I can actually breathe my own air. I needed to figure something out because I'm not ready to give up my peace and quiet. I tried shortening his naps to see if that worked, but it didn't. So we decided to try Quiet Time. On Friday, I explained to him that he needed to stay in his room. He could play with his toys, look at books, or even lay down. When I went to tell him Quiet Time was over that first day, his room was such a disaster. He had a great time. With my Type A-ness we had to make clean up time come right after Quiet Time. I put him to bed Friday night at 7:45 and he was asleep by 7:50. Beautiful! Then comes Monday...it looks like he started looking at books before he collapsed:
Monday
And then Tuesday came. It looks like he got a good start on playing with toys before he finally put his bed rail up and climbed into bed to nap:
Tuesday
Then Wednesday...he actually put his rail up, crawled under the covers, and brought Lightning along for the ride.
Wednesday

Yeah! Quiet Time worked again today. He was actually asleep by 7:30 tonight! Of course I had to put up with the sound of drums coming from his room this afternoon. Just ask Deanne. She was on the phone with me and could hear it all the way in NC. As long as he hangs out in his room, I'm okay with it.
I love that you have a type A-ness. That sounds like a potty word!! Just kidding. I am going throught the same phase with Alex and I am going crazy but I refuse to give up naps quite yet. No thank you!!!! Good luck with that!!!
